We built FirstMiles to give families one shared place to log practice, monitor skills, review progress, and prepare new drivers with state-specific guidance.
When our oldest daughter started learning how to drive, we quickly realized how hard it was to track her progress in a way that felt complete, organized, and easy to share. As a data-oriented parent, I wanted more than a basic driving log. I wanted to know what she had practiced, where she was gaining confidence, what still needed attention, and how close she was to being ready for independent driving.
We tried an app, a spreadsheet, and handwritten notes. None of them worked the way our family needed. My wife and I were often driving with our daughter at different times, and sometimes her grandparents were involved too.
The need became obvious when I was trying to enter the data my wife had written down after driving with our daughter. The app was awkward, the spreadsheet was hard to share, and our Android plus iPhone setup made one comprehensive tool feel almost impossible.
FirstMiles makes a teen's preparation for independent driving more consistent. Parents can log supervised practice, monitor progress, and use skill check-offs for the areas new drivers need to build over time.
The FirstMiles team experience will help teens see their own progress while parents stay in control of the official records. State-specific DMV guidance and practice test resources will help families focus, review together, and prepare with confidence.
